Term 4 Week 2 Learning Log

Monday

It's the week for the Shakespeare performances for the NA and Express classes. We went to CEPP corner to rehearse. It's a full dress rehearsal. For the actors, we are required to change into our costumes as per normal. We went to our respective places that have been allocated before. We rehearsed our own group play. It was much better for my group as I can see most put in effort in it. Before the bell ring, Mr Chua briefed us. As our Literature lesson is the last period of the day, my group stayed back to rehearse our performances as our actual performances was on that day from 5-5.30pm. So we had much time to rehearse. We rehearsed till 5 minutes before 5pm. Afterwards we went to the music room to act up our play. Overall it was quite okay. Anyway, goodluck to the other group!

Thursday

As most of the group had done with their actual Shakespeare performances except for some, Mr Chua went through about our EOY Literature exam paper. At first I thought we did not have any Literature exam paper for our EOY but as I think through, our performances took up 70% so the rest of 30% of the remaining should be on the theory. So I'll be revising for my Literature exam and also other subjects so that I can passed with flying colors! Goodluck to the others who will be sitting for their upcoming exams too.

Term 4 Week 1 Learning Log

Monday

We did nothing much. Mr Chua went through the aspects and criteria for our Shakespeare Performances whether we had chosen a Romeo & Juliet play or The Merchant of Venice. In fact most of the group chosen R&J play as its more easier for us compared to The Merchant of Venice.

Thursday

We went to the CEPP corner to rehearse our Shakespeare performances. Mr Chua brief us abit. Afterwards, the actors are required to change to their costumes as it is a full dress rehearsal. Each group went to our respective places that have been allocated before. My group full dress rehearsal was not as pleasing as it can be as there are some who are not co-operative towards the director and the other group members. Thus, some of our group members suggested to re-do again as they also felt that we screwed it up. Our director agreed to it as he wanted the best for our group too. We didn't managed to finish up our full rehearsal play as we had spent the time mostly to re-do halfway and then re-do again. Before the bell ring, we changed back to our school uniform. Mr Chua brief us again before we are dismissed and go fr our next lesson. I think that the ones who are not co-operative enough towards the other group members should be considerate and have the commitment as the others are working hard to make a good performance not just for their own good but also for the other group members as we worked as a team. Thus, don't because of some who doesn't put in effort and still fooling around as if the actual performances are not around the corner, the others are affected.

Term 3 Week 10 Learning Log

Monday

We had our full dress rehearsal on our Shakespeare performances. We went to the music room to act up. Before that Mr Chua asked some production role such as wardrobe IC and etc. Mr Chua was not happy as none of us had our props and dress for the full dress rehearsal. Then we had to move on. My group was the first one. I think it is terribly bad as we didn't prepared well and mostly we screwed it up. The director filmed our acting. After that was the second group and so on. We were then released from there as it was our dismissal time. I think that we need to be really prepared for our actual Shakespeare performance as it takes up 70% of our EOY Examination.

Thursday

We had our Literature lesson at per normal, in our classroom. Mr Chua gave back our Literature Common Test paper. I passed. Mr Chua went through the corrections. After that he showed us a video on R&J movie. The first part was at a party. There were loud music being played and the atmosphere was not a romantic scene. After that was the part where there were no loud music but slow, romantic and sentimental music as it was the part where Romeo and Juliet met each other. I think that the purpose of it is that, we could put in some music to our performances as it could explain the atmosphere in it on the certain scene that will be played. That's all for today Literature lesson. The R&J movie was not being played till the end as there's insufficient time.

Term 3 Week 9 Learning Log

Monday

This is the day where we sat for our Literature Common Test. It was not really tough as some of the question was discussed before during our Literature lesson and also if we had revised it, we will not struggle in doing it. I think that it was not that tough and also I could have explain even further on those question as I thought I've already explain it based on the questions asked and also I was trying to do my best to finish it on time so that there will be no question left unanswered thus will end up wasting some marks. I hope I passed the common test. Goodluck to my fellow classmates too.

Thursday

Literature lesson was carried out as per normal. Mr Chua gave us a worksheet related to famine. The second picture above are the picture in the worksheet. We were then required to answer those question on the paper using our thoughtful interpretations supported by detailed observations, based on the picture shown. We were needed to write 2 of our thoughtful interpretations. My first interpretation was, 'A vulture is standing a few distance away from an African boy, waiting for him to die slowly and then it will feed on it.' My second interpretation was, 'An African boy is kneeling on the ground with his head putting on the ground with his right hand grabbing a handful of yellow grass. He seem to be skinny and hungry as he might not have food to eat.' After that we had a group discussion. We were then have to write down 1 best interpretation from 1 of our group member. After that the last 2 question are our homework. It is about the link to the Mighty Mandarin. How the picture of the famine related to the Mighty Mandarin that affects the Li Ling's family. I think that the topic about famine is interesting and touching as some of us may not be that fortunate. Lastly, we could make a difference if we combined and helped those unfortunate people and not to leave them suffering and die.

Term 3 Week 8 Learning Log

Monday

Mr Chua was in for Literature lesson. He called up some names and one of us had taken somebody else assignment and had it photocopied. The handwriting of the work was from the original person but just the name was changed. I think that it was not a good thing as the hard work of the original person was shared or taken by the person who went and photocopied it. That's all for today Literature lesson.

Thursday

Mr Chua came in with Mr Naz. Firstly I thought there's 2 teacher will be conducting the Literature lesson. After awhile, Mr Chua had to leave for some reasons. Mr Naz then distributed a Mighty Mandarin worksheet that was about expression relating to the character speech. We need to fill in the character that suits the character speech on a certain line and then we are required to explain it. Before that Mr Chua explain the helping character words in case some of us doesn't know the meaning of it. It was not that tough as Mr Chua had already explain those helping words. Only there's 1 question that made me confused. I hope once we get back the worksheet, Mr Chua will go through it and thus, it could clear my doubts on it. I think this worksheet could improve our thinking skills more.

Term 3 Week 7 Learning Log

Monday

Monday the 9th of August marked the day of Singapore Birthday. Thus, it is a public holiday. We didn't have to attend school that day and that means we missed a Literature lesson. One day after is a school holiday. Happy 45th Birthday Singapore!

Thursday

We had our 1st rehearsal of our Shakespeare performances. We went to the Community Emergency Preparedness Programme (CEPP corner) to rehearse our Shakespeare performances. Before that Mr Chua told us what we are required to do in our own respective group. After that each group was allocated at its own place instructed by our teacher. My group was at the CEPP corner where there is a so called small stage. We were then given some time to rehearsed. The other roles except for the actors and director are required to give feedback on the rehearsed in their own group while the act was put up. After that we assembled back in front of the so called stage. Mr Chua called up some random register number and he or she who is not an actor or director were needed to share their feedback. Most of my group members said that I speak soft eventhough I already tried my best to say it out loud. That's is why I don't want to become an actor as I know I can't speak that loud even if I tried my best but most of my group members already chose me to be one. There are some who are from other groups said about their actors but doesn't elaborate well on the comments they made. Before the lesson ended, Mr Chua asked us whether we have any questions to ask. Next he told some roles in the Shakespeare performances to stay back for awhile as he wanted to say some words to them regarding on what they're supposed to do. So on the next Literature lesson, we will continue on our rehearsal. I think that I need work up even more on my volume of voice so that my lines are being hear clearly and it will help on the actual Shakespeare performances as it all depends on the actors putting up a good performance and for the other roles to give support and correcting our mistakes. So next Literature lesson which is going to be our 2nd rehearsal, I'm going to try my very best to speak up loud.
